Summer Session Course Registration

Session I: May 23-June 30 & Session II: July 3-August 11

Register for Summer Sessions today! Two 6-week summer sessions are offered and you can take up to 8 credits per session. Check out summer courses or in Albert. The Add/Drop deadline for Session I is Monday, May 29. We strongly recommend that you enroll as soon as possible to secure your seat. IMA Capstone Show 2023

The IMA Capstone is a two-semester course that enables seniors to develop an independent research project within the area of IMA. Drawing on diverse intellectual and artistic lineages, each project is a comprehensive work positioned at the intersection of creative and technological practices.

In addition to diverse thematic and cultural preoccupations, the projects rely on a wide range of hardware and software tools, including creative coding, web development, AR/VR systems, communication technologies, digital fabrication, interactive installation, physical computing, 2D and 3D design, and game engines. The final show celebrates the work of emerging young artists and creatives, applauding the maturity of their projects’ objectives and execution.

Walking China: Stories yet to be told

Walking China: Stories yet to be told is an exhibition made in collaboration with the Out of Eden Walk, co-curated by writer and explorer Paul Salopek and film/literature scholar June Ke, and featuring over a dozen artists from all over China.

Walking China presents stories that roam widely across knowledge systems, reflecting on how walking changes perceptions of time and being and how we might approach encounters with unfamiliar cultures and indigenous knowledge as starting points for dialogue.

In conjunction with Walking China: Stories yet to be told

A gathering hosted by artists Minghao Cao and Jianjun Chen with their collaborators - architects Xin'an Chi and Li Wan, sociologist Jing Li, ecologist Dan Zhu, and writer Paul Salopek.

Based on their new series of work at the headwaters of the water system, the artists Minghao and Jianjun explore how to reactivate existing resources, especially those in "ruins," through the lens of walking, architecture, ecology, sociology, and research-based art. In doing so, they demonstrate the potential for interdisciplinary exchange and fundamental transformation among participants in the black tent. Learn more!
